The first thing I did once I was an official subscriber was check out D's profile to see if the person I had found on Facebook was the same one I was talking to. It wasn't. But this wasn't a pleasant surprise. It turned out that I had talked to D before on another online dating site a few years ago and it didn't go well. I stopped talking to him at one point and then a week and a half later he emailed me on a tirade about how he thought we had something good going but that I turned out to be just like all the rest. Although he was not the scary biker guy I had found in my Googling, he was still intimidating looking--very large, as in, that-guy-has-to-be-on-steroids-or-a-descendant-of-the-hulk, large, and given that I had experienced his ranting before I had to wonder if there was something chemical going on there. I sent D a message to say that I didn't feel comfortable meeting up right away and then I closed him as a match. My instinct knew and it was right. I continued to learn in this experiment that it was a pretty reliable resource.
I checked out the rest of the matches I had been blindly communicating with and then e-mailed Lisa to give her the highlights:
K the Middle School Teacher
IS HOT. OH MY GOODNESS HE LOOKS LIKE JOHN STAMOS. There is even a picture of him holding an acoustic guitar. I haven't heard anything more from him though so perhaps he's found another lovely lady he feels more connected to. Boo.
T, 31, Commercial Writer/Producer
I didn't contact him and he didn't contact me, yet, but when I clicked on his profile today to check him out I realized that he was in Red River College a year behind us! I always thought he was cute but probably a bad idea. I never would have thought he'd have a hard time getting a date though. I am going to ask my Good-Wooden Leg friends who worked in radio if they know him.
J, 37 the Sales Consultant
Last night I got a message back from him. He told me about his work (furniture sales) and for the THIRD time asked me how many times I go to the gym/week and where I go (Dude, same as I told you the first two times, GoodLife, 4-6x a week). At that point I closed the communication. This morning I checked him out. He is attractive, too bad he can't remember details and has that icky salesman factor. Perhaps he should consider building a spreadsheet for better success.
So there were some matches that definitely looked appealing, and some that were the typical flakes or icky slicksters. My first date happened on February 27 with A, an engineer grad with his own construction company. What a re-introduction to dating. Oh my. I didn't stop after that date only because I figured it couldn't possibly go worse than that. (Sorry Kasia, tune in tomorrow... ;)

Ok, if I don't take into account last week's Richard episode, I'd say this is officially more exciting than LOST.
Nige, T is an attractive fellow who could also get on-camera work (I think I saw him do a spot for the dental association). If the writing work doesn't make him enough he could always set up a lemonade stand and sell kisses for a dollar a piece. I would share.
Thanks Kasia! As long as this is more exciting than the weather station I'm a happy girl.
