I saved you a seat

When I was 12 I dreamed up an imaginary boyfriend. No, I did not make my parents save a seat for him at the dinner table or anything crazy like that. I just imagined what he would be like. If I went some place that seemed especially special, I'd imagine what it would be like to have him there too. Mostly, he would come about when I was staring up at the stars, sitting on a beach, or walking through a forest. I'd imagine the conversations we'd have, sharing our secrets, fears, dreams and then breaking every once in a while into a good laugh.

It's finally warm enough again to sit out on my front step. This is one of my favourite places to be. It's a place I'd want to sit with my special guy and have a conversation that starts with, "when I was a kid, I used to dream..." and ends with, "can you believe it's 3 am?"

Ah, romance.

Or, you know, more realistically, when I finally get to sit out on the front step with some guy, the most profound thing he's going to say is, "man, this beer is like, half empty when I look at it in the shade, but more like half full when I look at it in the setting sun."

Yeah, I plan on ending up with a tow-truck poet ;)
