I have a new recurring nightmare. It used to be the one where I was late for school and didn't have my gym clothes. I also occasionally had ones where I was shot. Haven't seen that in a while. No, lately it's been animal attacks, specifically grizzly bears. Both times now I've tried to hide in a public washroom but the bear somehow gets in anyway and grrr, attack ensues, I wake up. This is the interpretation the Internet gave me:
To see a bear in your dream, symbolizes independence, the cycle of life, death and renewal. It may signal of period of introspection and thinking. The dream may also be a pun on "bare". Perhaps you need to bare your soul and let everything out into the open.
To dream that you are being pursued or attacked by a bear, denotes aggression, overwhelming obstacles and competition. You may find yourself in a threatening situation.
Hm. Let me think on that for a bit and get back to you.
So yesterday was the cookie exchange party and tonight I managed to bake, ice and ganache a cake to take to work tomorrow, so yes, here I am, back at the blog spot. I'm also currently being distracted by Kurt Browning skating sans shirt. Wouldn't that be kind of cold?
I did not win the cookie exchange contest. Amara did though, so I'm happy enough with that. But next year man, next year I've gotta get it. Funny though, Amara won with a cookie recipe almost identical to one I was considering. Doh! Or, rather, Dough! On the weekend I baked two recipes and decided to enter a chocolate shortbread cookie drizzled in caramel and topped with pecans. The other option was a cherry shortbread dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles. Here is the winning cookie:
Here is the cookie I did not enter:
Amara did get a much more uniform shape. Next time I would roll the dough into a log too.
Here is the cookie I did enter in the contest:

I'm getting tired, I can tell. I forgot an ingredient in the cake I baked tonight. More full moon madness, I think. I don't think it will make much difference really but we'll see. Tomorrow I will bake what will be the fabulously stunning cake that will grace my table on Saturday evening for my birthday soiree. Let's hope I have all my marbles about me when I attempt that one. When you come into my house these days it smells like sugar. I'm starting to think I am the witch in Hansel and Gretel and my house is made of gingerbread and gumdrops. Here's a pic of the cake I am going to use to try to win the affections of my co-workers with:

'The ol' elevator eyes'?! How have I survived this long without knowing that brilliant phrase. It's my new favorite.
Oh and your cake looks delish. If your coworkers don't demolish it in under 30 minutes, there is definitely something wrong with them.
Please add recipes to the random acts of cooking page. The cake looks delicious. mmmmmmmmmm.
Thanks.
Egad, that's an amazing sounding cake. Buttercream! Ganache! Peppermint!
