One year baby!

I was looking at some e-mails today trying to figure out how long I've been working on that website project. The first e-mail was sent on July 5, 2007. Wow, I could hardly believe we've been working on this thing for a year now. Tidal wanted to schedule a meeting with Head One but she told them she wanted to wait a few days as I was away. Away? Why was I away last year in early July? I looked up the dates on a calendar and it finally hit me. I was taking possession of my house.

Last July 3, I became a homeowner, jillstory fans. It has been a year of sacrificing shoes for utilities and groceries, finding new joys in cooking and yard work, adventures in dating and learning to enjoy my own company.

Kat was the first person I told when I realized what day it was.

"You should do something to celebrate, like take it out for dinner," she suggested, as an appropriate way to celebrate a first anniversary.

"Oh, but I'm actually going to my friend's place for dinner tonight." It's Thursday and Lisa's turn to cook. "I'm stepping out on my own house! Maybe I'll bring home some dessert."

Kat laughed. "If it involves whip cream and strawberries, I don't want to know."

I do have that bottle of J wine I've been saving. Maybe today would be a good occasion to open it up.

What a beautiful milestone! This made me realize that I've been reading your blog for just over a year, since I remember reading about your new house bliss. Wow-ee. If it were me, I'd run through the house naked to celebrate having my very own space. (Close the curtains first, though.)
